Although we provide the same basic services as a traditional bank, we serve a different purpose. You see, we’re a non-profit financial institution that is member owned and operated. After necessary reserve and capital levels are achieved, profits are put back into the credit union so that we can offer lower loan rates, and low and no fee programs and services for our members.
We are a community credit union. Our membership is open to individuals who live, work, and worship or attend school in Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan Counties of West Virginia. Businesses and legal entities are also eligible for membership.
It’s easy to become a member of Eastern Panhandle Federal Credit Union. Basically, you have to provide proof of who you are, where you live, or where you work, go to school, or worship. The best thing to do is just call us first and, based upon your situation, we'll tell you just what we’ll need.
To become a member you must pay a “one time” $1 Membership Fee and deposit $5.00 (one share) in a Membership Share Savings Account. The low $5.00 balance must be maintained at all times to remain in good standing. Then, you can apply for any of the services we offer like ATM or Visa Check cards, low rate loans and Share Draft Checking Accounts.
